Sheep ranching and sheep trialing require the partnership efforts of handler and dog. Let me introduce you to my team--retired, current, and up-and-comers! Without these dogs, our lives, both on-the-ranch and on-the-road, would not be nearly as rich and wonderful!
Sweep is …bred by Wilda Bahr of Pine Valley, Ca. (Tommy Wilson’s “Roy” grandson on the Dam side; and Terry Parrish’s “Rhys” grandson on the Sire side.) The best way to describe this phenomenal dog is “BRAVE HEART”. Sweep has been such a biddable dog to train, with more heart than most. When the going gets tough he keeps trying and will never give up. He has so much natural ability it amazes me, and on top of that a natural face bite that is second to none. When new lambs arrive home and we unload; “Sweep” is the dog to show the way. He moves sheep with ease using a medium to loose eye. Sweep started trialing in December of 2002. Sweep has been consistent with high scores throughout the trialing career. Sweep finished the year, 11th in the 2008 National Finals Open Championship. I am certain Sweep will be one of the best dog’s I will have ever owned. I am truly blessed to have been able to train and run a dog of this magnitude. Aside from work Sweep is my best friend.
SLY
Sly- (aka "bug") born December 31, 2006 will be running Nursery this year. She is off of my old Zippo lines which was my original breeding 12 years ago. Sly has a great feel for sheep, is a good listener and wonderful to live with. She is a happy girl, exceptionally cute and there is no task too difficult. Whatever there is to be learned whether difficult or easy she is ready and willing. I am really excited to get her going on the trial circuit this year!
Zippo & Shep
The true ranch dogs extraordinaire. Zippo (left) next to nephew Shep (right). Zippo was my original breeding from the first bitch I bought. Zippo was a great trial dog running at the most prestigious trials in the west. Zippo's first love though is ranching and he knows more about sheep than most. Zippo is 13 now and has turned the ranch over to Shep. Shep is coming 2 and a full brother to above "Sly". Shep is not intended to be a trial dog, he has the gene's of uncle Zippo and loves the ranching job. I feel like little shep will fit the mold beautifully. Sheppy is a cute little happy go lucky guy that is always ready to take a ewe by the nose when needed!! I am lucky to have another to continue Zips legacy.
