I first saw Jennifer compete at the 2002 National
Finals in Sturgis, South Dakota. I was so impressed
with her professionalism, style, and thoughtful
treatment of dogs that I resolved to seek her out
for lessons. At the Finals, her husband, Ron, and
her family were incredibly kind and patient with
Lisbeth and I--even to the point of sharing precious
shade with us! They graciously invited us to visit
them.
In November, 2003, Lisbeth and I pulled into Lake
Morena RV Park, next door to Jennifer and Ron's
home. I began two months of intensive training
with her. After that initial experience, I returned
often for more tips and coaching.
Although I no longer require instruction in the
basics, I continue to rely upon her as a source
of information and support. I asked Jennifer to
continue coaching me by observing my trialing in
the Open Class. She has provided words of encouragement
when I needed it, and, critical feedback when it
was warranted.
I feel very fortunate to have found her at the
point I did in my experience with sheep trialing.
The truly good trialers possess the ability to
handle a dog and understand livestock intuitively.
However, only a few of those good handlers can
turn around and teach. Jennifer, in my opinion,
is one of those few--a great trialer AND a great
teacher.
--2007-Linda currently runs two dogs in Open, Finn and Fly.
She has two young dogs (Creed and Liddy) she is training to compete
in Nursery. Both Fly and Liddy were purchased from Canines N'
Ewe.
